called in healthy

I’m 49 years old and I think I can still count on one hand the number of times in my whole working life that I’ve called in sick.  Good health is a blessing.  I’m very thankful and very aware that it could all change tomorrow.

I didn’t go to work today..  Not sick. Felt fine - better than fine.  I’ve just come through a busy time and am feeling a bit more relaxed in my schedule.  The weather was really nice, and it’s the summer solstice, I have some unused vacation days, and it’s a perfect day for a long bike ride.  I didn’t call in sick, I called in healthy.  I called in active, I called in robust, I called in hearty and hardy.  “Not coming to work today, I’m riding my bike”.  I rode 102 miles and saw three bald eagles, a set of spotted fawn twins, some snakes, a pond full of tadpoles, ate a huge tenderloin in a quiet shady park, inhaled gallons of fresh air, and saw every shade of green imaginable.  Best thing I’ve done this summer.  Could become an annual event: the Solstice Century.
